We look forward to sharing a fascinating, topical line-up including Colm Tóibín, Patrick McGrath, Christine Dwyer Hickey, Damon Galgut, Rachel Kushner and many more.

The National Children’s Literary 2021 Festival is embracing its theme of ‘Out of this World’ this year with something special in its line-up for children of all ages, from the very young to teenagers, including workshops with Shane Hegarty and Me & the Moon, children’s writing competitions, Baby Boogie and an alien story trail.

Join us again this year for your cultural cure, as we welcome many writers, poets, artists and readers to our virtual gathering. Tune in online on the 2nd June for the announcement of competition prize recipients, including Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award 2021 and the Pigott Poetry Prize Award 2021, two of the most prestigious annual prizes for Irish writers.

The support of sponsors and patrons, including Arts Council Ireland, Fáilte Ireland, Kerry County Council, Kerry Group PLC, Mark Pigott & Family and many more, have provided this unique festival with continued support for many years. To quote our festival President, Colm Tóibín: “Listowel Writers’ Week is serious about literature. Everyone who comes here knows how much literature enriches our lives.”
