On Yer Bike for The 7th Annual Ring of North Kerry Cycle

2349

The 7th Annual Ring of North Kerry (The RoNK) takes place on August 12th with two routes of 115 / 80 kms. The event is rapidly getting a reputation as being one of the friendliest cycling events on the calendar. This allied to the stunning scenery and great welcome will ensure you will have a marvellous day on The RoNK.

We are delighted to say we are back on Kerry Head with the route taking us up the village side for the first time.

Cyclists will leave in two groups this year depending on their route choice but have the opportunity to change once the two routes come back together again.

Cyclists on the full route will travel from Finuge to Lisselton before heading through Ballyduff and Abbeydorney. After Abbeydorney we hit the first climb of the day at Listellick before reaching the outskirts of Tralee. Moving out of Tralee we take in the splendid scenery of Tralee Bay before arriving at the food station at Spa N.S.. From there cyclists will continue along the main route through Fenit, Barrow, Ardfert, Ballyheigue, around Kerry Head and down Farran Hill into Causeway. From Causeway we travel the flat, fast roads to Lixnaw and home to Finuge. Cyclists on the long route will leave at 09.30 sharp.

The shorter 80 kms route starts at 09.35 and sees cyclists heading through Lixnaw before joining the main route at Ahabeg Cross. The short route splits away after the food stop at Spa N.S. taking a right to Churchill.

All cyclists will then continue to Ardfert and Ballyheigue with the short route skipping Kerry Head and bringing cyclists directly to Causeway before rejoining the long route for the final leg home

The feed station at Spa N.S. is the main food stop and covers cyclists from both routes as well as providing lovely views over Tralee Bay.
