Remembrance Sunday in Listowel for North Kerry WW1 Dead 1914 -1918
At 11.30am last Sunday a Special Commemorative Mass to remember the 160 WW1 dead from North Kerry, was held in Listowel. Canon Declan PP gave every assistance to the Military Group, Rev J. Hardy Church of Ireland attended. Prayer for the faithful were read by members of ONE Kerry to note WW1 Armistice Day Monday 11th November.
A Military Colour Party of 6 members, under the command of John Wade – representing the groups below, gave the salute during the Mass and the playing of the Last Post by Bugler Paddy Joe Moore, before the Roll Call of the WW1 dead at the end of mass. Concluding with the playing of “ Amazing Grace” by members of the Killorglin Pipe Band.
Then Led by the pipe band the colour party marched to the Memorial Plaque rear St. John’s Church, at which they gave the salute as the National Flag was raised by John O Mahony IUNVA, followed by Jim Halpin and Trish Mulvihill laying a wreath on behalf of the North Kerry WW1 Remembrance Group. Damien Stack presided for the Ceremony.
