Under clear blue skies, Rahavanig provided the perfect backdrop on Sunday as a large crowd gathered for another highly successful staging of the Ballybunion Races. Set amid the beautiful North Kerry countryside, the venue offered spectacular views across the Shannon Estuary to Loop Head, while also looking towards the hillside of Cnoc an Óir, creating a stunning setting for an afternoon of racing.
A strong entry of horses and ponies ensured a full programme of competitive and entertaining action, with spectators treated to a series of closely contested finishes in ideal conditions. The fine weather played a major role in the day’s success, drawing racegoers from across the locality and further afield.
There was a wonderful sense of occasion around the track as families, friends and racing enthusiasts came together to enjoy one of the most popular fixtures on the local sporting calendar. From the opening race to the final event, the action on the track kept the large attendance thoroughly engaged.
Once again, the event proved to be a tremendous success, made possible through the outstanding support of horse owners, jockeys, sponsors, landowners, officials, spectators, volunteers and all those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the day. A sincere thank you is extended to everyone involved in making Ballybunion Races such a memorable occasion, with their continued support ensuring this cherished tradition continues to go from strength to strength.
