New community-based healthcare facility set to open in Quarter 2 of 2027
Bon Secours Hospital Tralee is delighted to announce plans for the opening of the new Bon Secours Listowel Diagnostic Centre in Quarter 2 of 2027, marking an important development in the provision of accessible healthcare services for Listowel and the wider North Kerry community.
The new centre will expand access to a range of diagnostic, physiotherapy and outpatient services, providing patients with greater opportunities to access healthcare locally and reducing the need to travel further afield for selected investigations and appointments.
Planned services at the facility include MRI, X-ray, DEXA – Bone Density Scanning, ultrasound scanning, echocardiography (ECHO), physiotherapy and consultant outpatient clinic rooms. The centre will provide a convenient local setting for patients requiring diagnostic investigations, specialist consultations and other healthcare services.
The development reflects Bon Secours Hospital Tralee’s continued commitment to investing in healthcare across Kerry and improving access to services for patients throughout the region. By establishing a presence in Listowel, the hospital aims to make selected diagnostic and outpatient services more accessible to people living in North Kerry and the surrounding areas.
T.J. O’Connor, Chief Executive Officer of Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, said:
“The development of the Bon Secours Listowel Diagnostic Centre represents an important investment in the future of healthcare in North Kerry. We understand how valuable access to local healthcare services is for patients and their families, and we are pleased to be progressing a facility that will bring a range of diagnostic and outpatient services to the Listowel community.
“This development is about more than providing a local facility. It is about strengthening our connections with the community, supporting our local GPs and making it easier for patients to access appropriate healthcare services within their own region.
“We look forward to bringing this project to completion and welcoming patients to the new centre in 2027.”
Deirdre O’Connor, Radiology Services Manager at Bon Secours Hospital Tralee, said:
“The new Listowel Diagnostic Centre will provide an additional point of access for patients requiring diagnostic investigations and other outpatient services. Having services available closer to home can make a real difference to patients, particularly those who would otherwise need to travel to attend appointments.
“We look forward to working with our clinical colleagues and local GPs to support the delivery of accessible diagnostic services for the North Kerry community. The centre will complement the services available at Bon Secours Hospital Tralee and help support patients along their healthcare journey.”
