St. John’s Theatre, Listowel, will soon host Natural Woman — a powerful and uplifting multimedia production created and performed by IRMA Award nominated singer songwriter Fiona Kennedy (pictured). Following multiple sold out performances in Cork, this acclaimed show is now touring nationally and arrives in Kerry as one of the inspiring cultural events of the summer program in St Johns on Saturday May 9th.
Natural Woman blends original songs, spokenword readings, and evocative projected imagery to honour ordinary women who have achieved the extraordinary. Among those featured are Vicky Phelan, whose courage transformed women’s healthcare in Ireland, and Mary Elmes, the Corkborn humanitarian known as “the Irish Schindler.” The show also includes the story of an inspirational Kerry woman, making this performance especially meaningful for local audiences.
The production celebrates not only Irish changemakers but also iconic female musicians such as Carole King & Janis Joplin, with Fiona weaving her own long career as a performer into the narrative.
Readings by Ethel Crowley and striking visual projections by Cormac O’Connor along with superb musicians Paul Seymour & Billy Kennedy create a rich, immersive experience that resonates deeply with audiences of all ages. Having previously supported icons like Kris Kristofferson, and with accolades including an IRMA Award nomination and her own one-hour RTÉ TV special, Kennedy brings a wealth of experience and authenticity to the stage…audiences at St Johns theatre will be in for a wonderful night.
