Congratulations to fifth year student Alannah Lavery from Presentation Secondary Listowel who was recently awarded third prize in the Mary Elmes Holocaust Studies Competition for a poem she wrote in Transition Year entitled “Come Take My Hand”.

Alannah wrote a poem that empathised with the victims of the Holocaust, casting a poignant reflection of the injustices suffered during the prolific war by highlighting the welcoming hand of freedom. In doing so, she mentioned bringing the victims to the light and dancing with them; a beautiful image that highlights to power of truth and justice.
