A major breakthrough has been secured in addressing Ballyheigue’s ongoing water supply issues. The previously decommissioned borehole at Ardfert Water Treatment Plant will be brought back into service, alongside the construction of a new 6km watermain linking Ardfert and Ballyheigue.
The €5 million project is expected to provide a permanent long-term solution for all homes and businesses currently affected. Planning and design work are being finalised, with construction expected to take approximately three months once underway.
This represents a significant step forward for Ballyheigue, moving from short-term emergency measures to a permanent infrastructure solution, while supports for residents and businesses will remain under review during the transition period.
