SUPPORT LOCAL BY SHOPPING LOCAL IN LISTOWEL

Listowel Business and Community Alliance are asking shoppers to try town first, for their Christmas shopping needs. 2021 has been another rollercoaster year for businesses with Covid restrictions affecting business and retailers across all industries.
The Christmas Tree has arrived, and a festive Market is planned to launch Christmas in Listowel this Saturday November 20th from 4pm – 8pm. There will be music, craft & foods stalls, local school choir and the Turning on of the Lights at 5pm.

As always, we are grateful for the continued support of Kerry County Council. To help support local retailers and businesses, there will be free street car parking:
• Nov 20th & 27th
• Dec 4th to early January
• Subject to a 2-hour limit.
In addition, visitors can avail of more than 400 off street free car parking spaces across the town.

Paul O Connor, of Listowel Business and Community Retail Group “For those wondering what to buy someone this Christmas, the Listowel Voucher is a fantastic Christmas gift available in €10, €20 or €50 and can be purchased from Pierse Fitzgibbon. The vast majority of businesses in the town have signed up to the Scheme, it might be a new set of tyres for their car, tickets to the latest must-see show at St John’s, or some sessions at the local gym; they have plenty of options to choose from with the Listowel Voucher. 100% of the voucher value goes back to the retailer when spent – a fantastic support for local businesses”

“To help promote our members and local businesses we are also running a Shop Local / Believe in the Magic of Christmas marketing campaign across local radio stations, media publications and social channels. Our message as always will focus strongly on encouraging people to shop in Listowel this Christmas and support our shops restaurants and bars. Keep an eye on our website www.listowel.ie and all our social media channels @Listowel to stay up to date with our Christmas Events and Activities”.

Rose Wall, Chairperson of Listowel Business and Community Alliance, has said “Christmas is coming to Listowel on Saturday November 20th with the Christmas Market from 4 to 8pm hosting a variety of stalls. Come and enjoy the live music, local school choir and the turning of the Christmas Lights at 5pm and Santa is hoping to make a special appearance too!”

“With Christmas on the way, there is an opportunity to get behind local businesses and make sure that they finish out this very difficult year with local support and encouragement. Shopping in Listowel is a great experience with a wide variety of shops and local cafes, restaurants, and bars to visit as well as booking a treat at the many beauticians, barbers and hair salons for that Christmas pamper. We wish all traders a successful season especially those newly opened and issue a little reminder that we are always open to new members!”

Listowel Business and Community Alliance are again looking forward to Lighting up Listowel in conjunction with Kerry CoCo and our sponsors. This year we thank Gas Networks Ireland who have kindly sponsored the giant bauble light installation which will be on display in the Square.

Cora O Brien, Listowel Business & Community Alliance Marketing Committee states: “We are looking forward to a busy 2022 with our calendar full of festivals and events – Listowel Writers’ Week, Revival, Listowel Races, Listowel Food Fair, International Storytelling and also to the opening of the North Kerry Greenway which is of major importance to the town of Listowel and North Kerry. We are working on marketing and securing further funding for this exciting addition to the tourism offering in Listowel”.

Lastly, Rose Wall, Chairperson of Listowel Business & Community Alliance states
