The Amber Flag is awarded to schools that demonstrate exceptional efforts in creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive school environment that prioritizes mental health and well-being.
The staff and students of Causeway Comprehensive school have worked tirelessly to create a school environment that prioritises mental health and well-being. Ms Ruta Kanisauskaite who piloted the program stated, “the school has implemented a range of initiatives. These have included so far, mental health and well-being workshops, mindfulness practices, and peer support programs”. She continued by saying, “the school’s approach to mental health and well-being is holistic, recognizing that good mental health is not just about treating mental illness but also about promoting overall well-being”. The school has worked to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students, including those who may be struggling with mental health issues.
