Celebrate the Season with “Festive Fantasy” – Listowel Visual Artists’ Collective to Unveil New Exhibition in St. John’s Theatre & Arts Centre this December
Prepare to embrace the enchantment of winter at “Festive Fantasy,” a vibrant seasonal exhibition by the Listowel Visual Artists’ Collective (LVAC), launching Thursday 12th December at 7pm in the heart of Listowel in St. John’s Theatre & Arts Centre. This highly anticipated event will be opened by renowned Leitrim poet Stephen Murphy, and will include entertainment by pianist Mick Jones, local poet John McGrath, the St. John’s Trio and more.
“Festive Fantasy” showcases an eclectic range of artworks that celebrate the magic, warmth, and creative spirit of the winter season. From bold contemporary pieces to meticulously crafted traditional works, visitors will be able to savour a stunning collection that brings the holiday season to life with energy, passion, and artistry. This December, LVAC has curated a joyful experience that promises something inspiring for everyone, whether long-time art enthusiasts or newcomers to the scene.
“LVAC has come so far since its inception,” says Louise Lynch, LVAC Co- Founder and artist. “Our group is continually growing, drawing incredible talents together from across Listowel and beyond. With ‘Festive Fantasy,’ we’re thrilled to bring such a diverse range of works to the community, capturing the heart and spirit of the season.”
LVAC has had a prolific year, with “Festive Fantasy” marking their tenth exhibition of 2024. Among the standout exhibitions this year were “New Beginnings” in January, LVAC’s inaugural group showcase in St. John’s, and “Images and Imaginings” – a groundbreaking collaboration with local poetry and writing groups that featured workshops, performances, and a pop-up shop.
August saw the collective’s first touring exhibition, “The Art of McCarthy’s Ballads,” as part of the Sean McCarthy Memorial Weekend in Finuge, while in September, LVAC celebrated its one-year anniversary with “ONE” at St. John’s
A testament to the collective’s boundless creativity, the line-up for 2024 also featured stunning solo exhibitions from artists including Damian Daly’s “Introverted Excavator”, Siobhain Moriarty’s “Fragments, and Godfrey Coppinger’s “Self Portraits and Other Stories” and Jean McNamara’s “The Inner Child” and as part of the 6th Listowel International Storytelling Festival. The most recent exhibition “Immersed” by artist Mary Leahy that was also a huge success.
With each showcase, LVAC has demonstrated their commitment to exploring diverse themes and artistic expressions, making “Festive Fantasy” the perfect way to conclude an extraordinary year.
