Attention all runners and walkers! The global parkrun phenomenon is coming to Listowel!
Beginning on Saturday 22nd April at 9:30am, Listowel Town Park will play host to a free weekly timed 5K run/walk. All you have to do is register at https://www.parkrun.ie/register/ and choose Listowel as your home run. You will be issued with a barcode that you print out and bring with you on the day. This barcode will be scanned at the end of your run or walk to record your time (no barcode, no time) which you can then see in the posted weekly results.
Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of your fitness level or experience, and it’s absolutely free. You can find details about the course and how parkrun operates at http://www.parkrun.ie/listowel/. We also welcome visitors from all over who want to experience our lovely park and meet some terrific North Kerry people.
As this is a free event, we rely on volunteers from the community each week, so please
consider taking a turn as a marshal, timer, barcode scanner or one of our other roles. Listowel Parkrun is a locally-run initiative designed to enhance the health and well-being of everyone through physical activity and social interaction. Plus its a load of fun!
There will be a pre-event briefing at 9:20am, with the starting whistle at 9:30am sharp. There will also be a chance for a post-run chat over coffee or tea in the Community Centre next to the
finish line. If you have any questions, or if you wish to volunteer, please contact listowelhelpers@parkrun.com or message us on Facebook (and definitely give us a follow for news and updates). We hope to see you, your friends and the whole family on 22nd April, and every Saturday after that. Spread the word!
