The Con Curtin Music Festival Celebrates it’s 18th Year…

This year marks the 18th year of the Con Curtin Music Festival in Brosna Village. Each year, the village becomes a hive of activity for the last weekend in June in honour of the late, great Sliabh Luachra fiddle player. The festival will kick off on Friday June 22nd with a top class traditional concert at 8pm, featuring renowned group Breaking Trad, joined by dancing sensation David Geaney! This is a concert not to be missed, supporting acts on the night will include Brosna Comhaltas and Billy O Brien and John Murphy.

Top class tutors will facilitate a range of music workshops on Saturday the 23rd from 11am to 2pm with registration from 10.30am. Full details available on our facebook page! Following the workshops renowned musicians Nicky and Anne McAuliffe will host a slide/polka session in the Three Counties Bar at 2.30pm. Later on Saturday the fiddle recital will take place from 5pm-7pm in Kate Pats Bar the local church will be the venue for the traditional mass at 7.30pm that evening.

Sunday is a great family day with busking competitions for u9, u12 and u15 starting at 1.30pm in the village square, before the mighty Stríolan Céilí Band raise the roof at the céilí commencing in the Parish Hall at 3pm. Elle Marie O Dwyer and Micheál O Shea will take charge of the singing evening which kicks off at 4pm in Flanagan’s bar. A hit with story tellers and singers alike every year!
