Covid-19… Ignoring & Silencing the Alternative Opinion

In light of the latest restrictions this black cloud of anxiety and fear has descended upon us once more. Indeed fear is the greatest threat to freedom and in my opinion we are gradually losing this basic right, as we digest more drastic oppressive measures being inflicted on us by NEPHET and The Government. Back at the start of this Pandemic, Leo Varadkar decided to move this country into lockdown after predictions that approximately 120,000 citizens in Ireland could lose their lives. Given that we knew very little at the time and with no data available I believe the Irish people were content with this decision. But of course lockdown was not enforced in a literal sense. A lockdown was assumed to mean that our borders would also be locked, aside from essential services. They were not closed then, have not closed since and will not be closed now either. Because of this reason alone it may be reasonable to determine that our government had no real willingness for this crisis to go away.

Fast forward now to the 21st of October and obviously this death prediction of 120,000 was exorbitantly inaccurate. Any death is traumatic and of course we need to be sensitive no matter the cause but thankfully our current death rate from Covid is very low in comparison to other fatalities happening here on a daily basis. However the case rate is increasing but is this a good enough reason to move us into a countrywide lockdown? We are testing far more and the PCR testing has shown to be unreliable with many false positives and picking up other coronaviruses in our system. Our cases have also been inflated by the fact that the same person can be tested a number of times while infected and each time they test positive is added as a new case. Treatments have also improved with a lot less infections requiring hospitalisation or intensive care units and we now have over 1,000 ventilators, which completely overshadows the demand. Why can we not just look after our more vulnerable and attempt to get back to some form of normality that our people are craving? Instead we are now in lockdown by case ratio rather than death ratio.

Since March this year and from the beginning of this Covid-19 Pandemic, our Government and the media elite in this country have peddled the same viewpoint. We have been bombarded hourly with fear based negative news about case numbers and deaths from this virus leaving many in a state of constant paralysis. Why are we basing decisions on case rates rather than mortality rates? According to www.cancer.ie over 9,000 will die of some form of cancer each year, a figure of approximately 10,000 will die each year from cardiovascular disease. Influenza is responsible for 200-500 deaths each year in Ireland. In a severe season it may cause up to 1,000 deaths. The death rate from Covid has been climbing but we must correlate all these figures in relative terms. We also need to understand the phrase ‘Covid related deaths’. We now know that if someone dies in this country from another ailment and showing no Covid-19 symptoms but test positive, then they will be recorded as a Covid death. This has completely distorted the figures that the media, government and the population constantly obsess about.

Obviously no one is attempting to be flippant or insensitive about any deaths that occur but when compared to cancer, heart disease, influenza, suicide etc, Covid-19 pales in comparison. People will say that these other illnesses are harder to prevent than coronavirus. However many more deaths from cancer and heart disease are inevitable with the lack of early detection as we are consumed with this daily battle with fear. Considering how the Government-imposed restrictions continue to impact mental health, its very reasonable to recognise an imminent increase in fatality rates from suicide, having 421 recorded here in 2019. Also the way our powers that be have handled the levels up and down, lockdowns and re-opening will really contribute to the on-going mental health struggle for a huge number of our citizens. In fact Michael Martin said on Tuesday “I do foresee a period where you will have periods of higher-level restrictions, followed by lower-level restrictions and, if necessary, followed by higher-level restrictions again.” This confusing and lack of clarity or even a real plan is sure to cause more and more personal turmoil.

Any of the above mentioned, especially cancer and heart disease, are currently a far greater threat to the people of Ireland than Covid, yet the media don’t haunt us with these figures on a consistent basis. In fact it seems that they have all but been forgotten about.

Have the media tainted our opinion on what has really transpired during our Govenrment’s handling of this Covid-19 Pandemic? Depending on whether you have been following this crisis on RTE, social media or another media source your opinion may have been formed accordingly. In my opinion RTE are the most unbalanced source given their relationship with the Government. They would simply not exist without the Government, or our taxpayer money to be more accurate. If our ‘leaders’ say that grass is purple, then RTE would run a feature explaining how purple it actually is.

However, the purpose of this article is not to sway opinion one way or another. It is purely designed to open channels to an alternate view. I believe more people need to question the current status quo. Asking for more accurate and truthful data from The State and NEPHET does not make any of us a denier of Covid-19, nor does it make us a conspiracy theorist and certainly does not mean we are insensitive to deaths caused directly or indirectly by this virus. This crisis is affecting everyone, some more than others and we all should have an opinion about it. Its your opinion and yours alone, and you should be free to express it. We owe it to our elderly and isolated, our local businesses, our children, people battling with other ailments, in fact we certainly owe it to ourselves as a nation to reconsider, challenge the narrative, make ourselves aware of the real measured data and finally to think for ourselves once again.

My hope is that people would look for numerous viewpoints before forming their own. There have been many highly qualified medics and epidemiologists in Ireland and globally who have offered their own assessments and advice on Covid 19, but have either been ignored, silenced, shunned and even lost their jobs because of it.

As a democratic country we debate everything. We discuss referendums, budgets, housing etc but there seems to just be one opinion on this issue and it is forced on us with a determined enthusiasm. Other qualified professionals sit on the river banks and can only watch as the torrents of fear, politics and under researched public opinion flash by.

I will outline below a synopsis view of a number of these said professionals who are just as qualified if not more so than those in NEPHET.

Ivor Cummins
A Biochemical Engineer, who has spent 30 years in Corporate Technical Leadership Positions. His career specialty has been leading large worldwide teams in complex problem-solving activity. He has recently been intensively researching the root cause of modern chronic disease with particular focus on cardiovascular diseases.

Recently he has been studying the figures from Covid-19 and sharing his results on social media and public talks. He spoke on The Niall Boylan show on Classic Hits on October 5th and here are some of the points he made.
He believes we have had the virus in Ireland since November last year. With regard to the rising cases as we go into the Autumn we are going to have inevitable respiratory distress. Most important to note is if the mortality rate or excess mortality rates are above those of previous years, especially in 2018. The virus follows a similar pattern to that of the seasonal flu and lockdowns would not do a huge amount for an influenza type viral transmission illness but did agree with our first lockdown in March to ease fears and uncertainty. While Sweden did have a higher death rate at the beginning there has been paper published ’16 Reasons Why’ and their lack of strict restrictions has shown to be the least contributing factor. “If you account for care homes, demographics and other vectors Sweden is very similar to Ireland regardless of the current figures showing Sweden to have performed worse. Sweden are much lower than the UK and many other countries in Europe.” Ivor believes countries will not even consider to take an approach similar to Sweden now because of the political embarrassment to admit that they got this wrong. They have destroyed economies, taken away human rights and isolated the aged. Also the cost and the cost benefit of lockdowns are enormously out of kilter.
“No politician will entertain the very concept that it was a mistake even at a sub-conscious level. Because they have scaremongered the populations so much originally that even some people now are demanding more lockdowns. The politicians have created a monster of fear, and the fear it seems just got the best of them too.”

He said that 95% (1,700 of the 1,800) patients who died were never given an intensive care unit to try to save them and this figure was on RTE from The HSE. The reason being was that these patients were so aged or cormorbid that it would have be unethical to bring them to a hospital. He did say that all life is important but we need to stick to facts for management of this situation. 1,700 patients were not afforded ICU and that is the picture of Ireland’s Epidemic. Cases are rising but this is inevitable because we are moving into the season where respiratory will rise. The death figures from Covid are vanishingly small but they will rise in this season. He did say in positive news that Covid-19 is highly unlikely to mutate as the coronavirus family is very stable unlike influenza. When asked what he would do to manage the crisis going forward he replied: “I have interviewed a lot of professors in many fields on this and I would do exactly what Sweden are doing pretty much. I believe it would be an optimum outcome for all of society’s health and wellbeing”. He said herd immunity is an inevitability. It is a scientific fact that 80% of people largely with a new coronavirus are de facto immune, which does not mean they are fully immune but will not experience any particular impact due to previous coronavirus immunity.

With regard to masks he said that we have four decades of science that say that masks have no significant useful impact and we have four weeks of associational evidence, which is the lowest possible form of evidence, that suddenly said they did in June. “I’d put four decades over four weeks.” He did say that masks could have helped with the elderly in March but to bring in masks in the middle of the Summer was completely pointless given the seasonal scientific data we already know for these types of illnesses.

With regard to the longterm affects of Covid-19: “There is 40,000 published scientific and medical papers on Covid on every facet and aspect and I have read quite a few of them but there is no convincing paper yet on longer term impact of Covid versus any other virus.”

The Great Barrington Declaration
The Great Barrington Declaration is a statement written and signed on 4th October 2020 by three public health experts from Harvard, Stanford, and Oxford namely Jay Bhattacharya, MD, PhD, Martin Kulldorff, PhD and Sunetra Gupta, PhD.

It encourages governments to lift lockdown restrictions on young and healthy people while focusing protection measures on the elderly. This would allow COVID-19 to spread in a population where it is less likely to be deadly, the authors state, encouraging widespread immunity that is not dependent on a vaccine. It has been reported to have received 8,000 signatures from public health experts and doctors. It advocates a risk-based “alternative public health approach” to the COVID-19 pandemic that involves “focused protection” of those most at risk and seeks to avoid or minimize the “social harm” of lockdown.

An extract from the declaration: “Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed. Fortunately, our understanding of the virus is growing. We know that vulnerability to death from COVID-19 is more than a thousand-fold higher in the old and infirm than the young. Indeed, for children, COVID-19 is less dangerous than many other harms, including influenza. As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e.  the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity. Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal. Simple hygiene measures, such as hand washing and staying home when sick should be practiced by everyone to reduce the herd immunity threshold.”

Dr. Marcus de Brun
Dr. de Brun, based in Rush, Co Dublin, was appointed by Health Minister Simon Harris to the Irish Medical Council in 2018. He has been vocal in his views about mask wearing and the government’s handling of Covid-19 in nursing homes. He claimed that healthy people should not be wearing masks and believes their overuse to be quite dangerous. Dr. de Brun has obviously angered NEPHET and The Government when he described the management of the crisis as “the biggest political blunders in the history of the Irish State”. As a result of this, in early October GP Marcus de Brun said he decided to end his HSE contract and to step back from public speaking “under duress” in order to avoid being struck off.

Dr. Reiner Füllmich
For 26 years, Dr Reiner Fuellmich has been a lawyer in Germany and California. He’s one of four members of the German Corona Investigative Committee. The German Corona Investigative Committee has taken testimony from a large number of international scientists and experts since July 10, 2020.

Some of their conclusions are:
• The Corona Crisis must be renamed the “Corona Scandal”
• Corona virus mortality equals seasonal flu
• Autopsies showed fatalities were almost all caused by serious pre-existing conditions
• Sweden (no lockdown) and Britain (strict lockdown) have comparable disease and mortality statistics
• US States with and without lockdowns have comparable disease and mortality
• Herd immunity needs only 15-25% population and is already achieved
•  Only when a person has symptoms can an infection be contagious
• With regard to the PCR test, very healthy and non-infectious people may test positive. Likelihood of false-positives is 89-94%
• Prof. Drosten developed his PCR test from an old SARS virus without ever having seen the real Wuhan virus from China.
• A positive PCR test does not mean an infection is present or that an intact virus has been found
• The hopeless PCR test is used to create fear and not to diagnose
• Anti-corona measures have Killed innumerable people and destroyed countless companies and individuals

Dr Martin Feeley
(HSE Senior Director)
Dr Martin Feeley, the clinical director of the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group, said Covid-19 is “much less severe” than the average annual flu. He suggested people at low risk from the virus should be exposed to it so they can develop herd immunity and reduce the risk to vulnerable groups.

That is what is happening and yet the policy seems to be to prevent it. This should have been allowed to happen during the summer months before the annual flu season, to reduce the workload on the health service during winter months.” He went on to state that any assessment of Ireland’s strategy to combat the virus should take into account the cost to people’s quality of life, according to the former vascular surgeon, who said that “you can’t postpone youth”. Dr Feeley is critical of the media and the public “obsession” with daily case numbers, when so few people are being admitted to hospital or intensive care units. “What I’ve been proposing… that we protect as much as we can the vulnerable and at risk, and allow the people who are not at risk to live their lives. Dr Martin Feeley has since resigned from his position with The HSE stating: “I didn’t have a choice”.

Dr. Mike Yeadon
Former Chief Science Office and Vice President for 16 years of pharma giant Pfizer
“Second Wave Faked on False-Positive COVID Tests, Pandemic is Over. There is no science to suggest a second wave should happen. The Big Pharma insider asserts that false positive results from inherently unreliable COVID tests are being used to manufacture a “second wave” based on “new cases”.

Other points in summary:
The threshold for herd immunity may be much lower than previously thought, and may have been reached in many countries already. Given the shape of all important indicators in a worldwide pandemic, such as hospitalizations, ICU utilization, and deaths, the pandemic is fundamentally over. Were it not for the test data that you get from the TV all the time, you would rightly conclude that the pandemic was over, as nothing much has happened. Of course people go to the hospital, moving into the autumn flu season…but there is no science to suggest a second wave should happen. In the data for UK, Sweden, the US, and the world, it can be seen that in all cases, deaths were on the rise in March through mid or late April, then began tapering off in a smooth slope which flattened around the end of June and continues to today. The case rates however, based on testing, rise and swing upwards and downwards wildly. The survival rate of COVID-19 has been upgraded since May to 99.8% of infections. This comes close to ordinary flu. Much of the population already has, if not antibodies to COVID, some level of “T-cell” immunity from exposure to other related coronaviruses, which have been circulating long before COVID-19. More than half of the positives are likely to be false, potentially all of them. What the PCR test actually measures is simply the presence of partial RNA sequences present in the intact virus, which could be a piece of dead virus which cannot make the subject sick, and cannot be transmitted, and cannot make anyone else sick. The most famous incidence of PCR test unreliability was when the President of Tanzania revealed to the world that he had covertly sent samples from a goat, a sheep, and a pawpaw fruit to a COVID testing lab. They all came back positive for COVID.

Lockdowns Don’t Work…The former Pfizer executive and scientist singles out one former colleague for withering rebuke for his role in the pandemic, Professor Neil Ferguson. Ferguson taught at Imperial College while Yeadon was affiliated. Ferguson’s computer model provided the rationale for governments to launch draconian orders which turned free societies into virtual prisons overnight. Over what is now estimated by the CDC to be a 99.8% survival rate virus. Dr. Yeadon said: “no serious scientist gives any validity” to Ferguson’s model

Dr. Pat Morrissey
Earlier this month Limerick GP Pat Morrissey got the boot from ShannonDoc — the out of hours GP service for Limerick, Clare and Tipperary — after criticising NPHET, the HSE and the Government over their Covid-19 strategies. He was removed from his position after describing NPHET as “megalomanic bureaucrats” and declared: “There is very little scope for free speech.” He spoke in Dublin at an anti-lockdown and anti-mask protest in Dublin in which he branded NPHET “completely out of touch” and called for the advisory body to “be scrapped”. Dr Morrissey, who claims the HSE are seeking to “tie my hands behind my back”, told how he spoke at the rally on Saturday to “raise awareness” about the impact of restrictions on non-Covid related healthcare. “Other people are losing their livelihoods, their mental health is in a bad way, people’s physical health — they don’t want to count these numbers and they are going to mount up over a much longer time frame, they are going to be way higher than the deaths from Covid. There is no health emergency anymore. If you look at the deaths, it is zero or one per day as of now. I mean eighty plus people die every day in Ireland. So why are we not locking down the country because of car accidents?”. “Why does everybody have to follow the same idea constantly? I’m looking for integrity from those in the Oireachtas because there is a better path that promotes all aspects of health, not just the absence of one disease. It is nonsensical that everything is predicated around Covid.”

I do need to reiterate that this article is purely to provide a balance to the majority of reporting on this crisis to date and to highlight just some of the countless professionals and medics who have an alternative view. I hope that some of the info may alleviate, at least some fears and anxiety that exist in our society and put certain aspects of this crisis into perspective. I would also like to show empathy for anyone who has lost loved ones directly or indirectly from Covid. The truth is that we are all in a war of the mind at the moment, and in any war information is the most valuable commodity. I would hope for more correct and transparent information from those that govern us. To me much of these restrictions are used as a tool to control us rather than protect us, though we have always been under some element of control. We have all heard of the phrase ‘sheeple’ and that if you echo all the sentiments of our Government then you may be branded a ‘sheep’. The phrase comes from the concept that the sheep will always do what they are told while thinking that its master always knows what’s best. However, you should remember that the sheep spends all his life afraid of the wolf only to be eaten by the shepherd.
