Celebrating Dance, Tradition and Community in a Unique Setting

Starting on Tuesday, September 10th, Teach Siamsa Finuge launches an exciting 8-week Creative Communities Dance Project – a vibrant programme of classes, workshops, and talks that bring the joy of dance to the heart of North Kerry.
From young children taking their first steps, to adults eager to reconnect with tradition, there is something here for everyone:

• North Kerry Dance Classes – explore the unique steps and styles that define our own local tradition with Jonathan Kelliher

• Sean Nós Dancing – learn the free-flowing, percussive style that is full of personality and expression with Ranog Townsend

• Set Dancing – enjoy the social energy of this much-loved group dance with Jamie Flannery, open to all ages

• Ukrainian Dance Workshop – celebrates the rhythms and colour of Ukraine’s vibrant folk dance traditions with Daria Asieieva, a chance to connect cultures through movement.

• Lectures by Dr. Catherine Foley – internationally recognised dance scholar and performer, offering fascinating insights into Irish dance traditions and their wider cultural significance.

Dr. Catherine Foley (pictured), who will lead a series of lectures, said:
“Dance brings people together – it is joyful, creative, and deeply rooted in community. At Teach Siamsa Finuge, participants will not only learn steps but also share traditions, make friendships, and experience the sense of welcome that this space is known for.”
All of this takes place in the fantastic setting of Teach Siamsa Finuge – the historic training ground of the National Folk Theatre of Ireland, and now a thriving hub where tradition meets creativity. The 8-week programme is open to all, regardless of age or experience, and offers the perfect way to keep active, connect with others, and celebrate culture together.

Booking: The programme begins on September 10th and runs for 8 weeks. Places are limited, so early booking is advised. Reserve your spot on Eventbrite or by contacting teachsiamsafinuge@gmail.com.
