Daffodil Day fundraising in Pres. Listowel surpassed all expectations again this year. The students and staff raised an amazing €1,044 which will go towards supporting cancer patients and their families.
There was a great spirit of generosity as students and staff supported the collection and bunching of fresh daffodils for the local branch of the ‘Irish Cancer Society’, the LCA bake sale and the sale of Daffodil Day pins during the week. A staff lunch prepared by staff also raised additional funds. The many events provided a great community spirit and a sense of wellbeing for the week leading upto Daffodil Day for the whole school community.
It also creates a great awareness in our school of the wonderful work that the local Listowel Branch of the ‘Irish Cancer Society’ does for our community.
The Leaving Cert. Applied girls got an opportunity to develop many key skills during the process of organising the week leading up to Daffodil Day in the school. They developed their organisational, management, teamwork, financial, marketing and communication skills etc. They were involved in all these activities as part of the Enterprise 2 Module which is an integral part of the Leaving Certificate Applied Programme. The students applied their skills to these school-based activities where they provided an organisational structure for managing and running the activities.
Sincere thanks to all who took part and to all for supporting our Daffodil Day Fundraiser to make it such an overwhelming success.
