Congratulations to Duagh/Lyre U16 Skittles team who represented Kerry last Sunday at National finals in Carlow. In the semi-final Duagh/Lyre played Magheracloone of Monaghan and it was a tight affair throughout the five rounds. Duagh/Lyre put up a super effort scoring over 200 points but unfortunately didn’t take the win.
The games were played with ferrous intensity you’d hardly get time to draw a breath. The game was anyones. In the 3rd and 4th place play off Duagh/Lyre were playing Graiguecullen Carlow, unfortunately the first round was the decider here, coming in after a quick break straight to the play off it took a couple of rounds to claw it back and if a little luck had gone our way who knows.
Duagh/Lyre won the pewter medals and played with pride, intensity, and passion. A never die attitude by all the team throughout both games. A birthday was celebrated by Jeremiah on the National stage while the team collected their medals. Special thanks to Jason for putting in the sessions with the team, they were well prepared for the competition. Special thanks to the parents for supporting, encouraging, travelling and to all the training sessions. It was so worth it all the team got on so well.
