International exposure for talented Lios Tuathail AC Athlete Alex Collins

23

Huge congratulations to Lios Tuathail AC superstar jumper Alex Collins who represented Ireland in the FISEC games in Budapest in both the high jump and long jump. In the high jump Alex finished level in 3rd position but on countback was 4th and equalled his PB. Alex finished 9th in his second event of long jump with a jump of  5.75m. A fantastic achievement by Alex in his first Irish vest, one the club and his family are so proud of.

Alex was giving away a year in age to all his competitors. Alex is third generation of athletes in his family following in the footsteps of his grandfather Joe Cotter of Purt, Abbeyfeale who was hugely involved in St. Ita’s Athletic Club Abbeyfeale and his mom Mag, a super sprinter in her day.

Alex is a remarkable competitor and finishes out a fantastic season with achievements as follows: International singlet in FISEC, Munster Singlet in Tailtean Games representing Coláiste Ide agus Iosef, Abbeyfeale, National Indoor and Outdoor Champion in Triple Jump, 3rd Long Jump and 5th High Jump. Munster Indoor and Outdoor Triple Jump Champion and Munster Indoor record holder in Triple jump, 2nd Long Jump and 3rd High Jump. North Munster Schools Champion in Triple and Long Jump, Munster School’s 2nd Triple Jump, Tailtean Games 6th triple Jump, Kerry County Champion in U16 Triple Jump and Long Jump along with 2nd in High Jump.

This rounds out a fantastic season for Alex and all the coaches who made this possible along with his family for their dedication. As a club we are so proud of your effort, commitment, dedication, and courage. Congratulations Alex
