One of Ireland’s most celebrated plays, John B Keane’s classic masterpiece is a must-see for everyone. Set in the 1950’s Ireland, Sive is the story of a young and beautiful orphan. While living with her Aunt and Uncle, a local matchmaker schemes for Sive to marry a much older man. Sive’s resentful and greedy family agree to the arrangement despite Sive being in love with a young man herself. Faced with an unthinkable future, Sive takes back her control in the only way she knows how.
Director Andrew Flynn leads the creative team; he has most recently directed Gaiety Production’s critically acclaimed productions of Martin McDonagh’s Hangmen, The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Lieutenant of Inishmore and The Lonesome West at the Gaiety Theatre.
