There will be a feeling of sadness around Garvey’s SuperValu this Friday as staff and customers will be saying goodbye to someone who has been a mainstay of the Supermarket business in Listowel for 32 years Kay Fitzgerald (or Kay Fitz as she is affectionately known) started working in the supermarket then owned by Joe Guerin, in 1988.
She has served tens of thousands of customers since and her infectious smile, helpful nature and fantastic sense of humour have been a constant through the years. It will be an emotional day for the staff as kay is a most popular member of the team.
Manager Paul O’Connor said: “I cant imagine the shop without Kay Fitz. Since I arrived 15 years ago she has been a constant support to myself and all the team. She is adored by our customers and I know from speaking to the staff that she will be sorely missed. We at Garveys wish herself and Tom all the best in her retirement.”
If any of her loyal customers want to wish her well, Kay will be finishing up this Friday October 2nd
