4 Day International Cycle Race 2017
Stage 2 will start in Listowel & Finish in Athea.
Listowel Cycling Club are delighted to announce that the The Route for Kerry Group Ras Mumhan, the first major Stage Race of the Irish Cycle Racing season which will take place over the 4 days of Easter weekend, April 14th to 17th 2017, will include a Stage in North Kerry and West Limerick.
Big time Cycle Racing returns to Listowel for the first time in 10 years on Easter Saturday April 15th, when Stage 2 will start in Listowel and cover a 130km route taking in North Kerry and West Limerick. This tough hard stage will finish in the village of Athea in West Limerick after 130km of undulating roads. The stage is built for the real strong elite riders, with a number of category 2 and 3 climbs. The route will take the riders from the start in Listowel on to Ballylongford, Tarbert, up the town in Glin, then on to Athea for the first of three times up the hill on the road to Carrigkerry, on to Ardagh, Shanagolden, Foynes, up the big climb in Glin again, on to Athea, then on to a 25km finishing circuit through Carrigkerry and back to finish up the hill out of Athea for the 3rd time.
Listowel will be well represented and hope to have 3 riders in the field of 200 riders representing all the top Club teams in the country and a good representation of teams from Britian and the Continent also.
Eugene Moriarty, Barry Horgan and Shane O Neill (pictured), all elite Category 1 riders, who competed in last years An Post Ras will all be in the line up, while Limerick and Kerry teams will also be in the line up. This is a huge International race and is sure to bring a big crowd of cycling and sports enthusiasts to the area.
The 500km route, which is again long and hard, will start on Good Friday, April 14th in Killorglin and finish four days later on Easter Monday morning April 17th in Killorglin also. Valentia Island is added back in to Sundays Stage 3 in South Kerry, which will also have the Coom an Easpaig climb, the only Cat 1 Climb of the race. Stages 1 and 4 are the same as the last few years.

Stage 1. Good Friday. 100km Starting and finishing in Killorglin after 100km.
Stage 3. Easter Sunday. 155km. Start & Finish in Waterville.
Stage 4. Easter Monday. 115km The final day is starting and finishing in Killorglin.
