Following feedback in relation to the wear & tear of Listowel Playground from parents and community groups, we in the Listowel Business and Community Alliance have held meetings with Kerry County Council Listowel Municipal Officer Martin Curran and staff regarding the feasibility of upgrading/changing some playground equipment.
Following these discussions, it has been recommended that a playground subcommittee be set up which will lead the project. The subcommittee will work directly with Kerry County Council on identifying the required upgrades (Playground Survey) and accessing funding channels available for the playground upgrades.
The Listowel Business and Community Alliance will assist with the setup of the subcommittee, which will need to include representatives from parents’ associations, primary schools, childcare groups and community groups that regularly use the playground facilities.
A meeting to form the Playground Subcommitee will be held on Monday June 24th at 7.30pm in Kerry Writers Museum The Square.
We are putting out a call to parents, local primary schools and childcare groups to share this meeting invitation to all relevant community groups and parent associations to ensure representation at the meeting to discuss and plan for the future of Listowel Playground.
Without a subcommittee in place the discussions and works will falter and funding will not be successful.
