The Revival Music Festival is back this year with a 1 Day Festival, taking place this Saturday 19th July. The excitement is certainly building with the people of north Kerry and far beyond looking forward to another rocking night in the picturesque venue of Listowel Square.
The Revival Committe are delighted to welcome Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats making their first appearance at the festival. There has been much talk of whether or not Bob himself will be performing and its now confirmed the iconic frontman will be on stage this Saturday.
Bob rose to prominence in the late 1970s as the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats, who achieved popularity as part of the punk rock movement. The band had UK number one hits with his co-compositions “Rat Trap” and “I Don’t Like Mondays”. Having Bob Geldof perform in Listowel is a major coup especially given that Live Aid’s 40 Year Anniversary is July of this year and The Revival Committee should be congratulated for securing his signature. Live Aid was a two-venue benefit concert and music-based fundraising initiative held on Saturday 13 July 1985. The event was organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise further funds for relief of the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia.
The Boomtown Rats will be supported by Stockton’s Wing, an Irish band formed in 1977, and No Strings Attached, a popular band who are no strangers to performing in venues throughout north Kerry.
A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased at www.revivalfestival.ie.
Come along this Saturday evening to a festival like no other and immerse yourself the beauty of Listowel and the joy of live music.
