Murhur NS Now Enrolling for school year 2017-2018

Murhur N.S. Moyvane is a co-educational Catholic primary school which strives to create a learning environment where every child is encouraged and enabled to develop to their full and unique potential. In true Christian spirit we welcome all denominations to our school. The school endeavours to enhance the self-esteem of all children and to imbue in them respect for people and property. We provide a caring and secure atmosphere where the needs of each pupil are identified and addressed.
Murhur N.S. Moyvane takes its name from ‘Magh Oirthir’ – the Eastern Plain from the old civil parish area. The present school, which opened in 1975 replaced the original Murhur N.S. built in 1888. Academic excellence is of paramount importance to us. We offer the Complete Curriculum, enhanced with early intervention, modern technology and outside support in the areas of football, swimming, art/craft, scor etc.
Our sporting activities include Gaelic football – Kerry County Board/Go Games, Mini 7s, and Cumann na mBunscol competitions. We have a spacious play area incorporating our own football pitch and our basketball court. We have access to the nearby GAA pitch and Community Sports Hall for our P.E. activities. Our Music and Drama are greatly enhanced by the availability to us of the local Marian Hall.

Murhur N.S. is a Green School and a health promoting school embracing Operation Transformation school oriented activities. The Junior Entrepreneur Programme captures the energy and imagination of Primary School pupils who mastermind projects and bring them to fruition. The idea is simple: The programme helps children to set up their own ‘class business’. The project teaches children how to manage money and gives them an understanding of business in the ‘Real World’

We are in the process of upgrading our IT system. We plan to start Computer Skills/ Coding  Scratch/Coder Dojo classes in the last term of this school year. We hope to continue and further develop this in the next school year 2017-2018.
Our active and supportive Parents’ Association help with fundraising, the organisation of school activities and cater for social events.
