The Kerry Junior Munster Final
Kerry 4.24 v Cork 3.20. The Kerry Junior team played Cork in the Munster Final in Páirc Uí Rinn on Tuesday evening last and came away with a great win after extra time . They came from 9 points down to 7 points up with an unchanged side from the team that defeated Limerick in the semi final. From the district on the team we had Eamonn Kiely Brosna, Jack McGuire & Conor Cox Listowel Emmets, James Walsh Knocknagoshel, Michael Foley Ballydonoghue and Thomas Hickey returned from injury and was included among the subs.
The Kerry Seniors and Minors
The Kerry Minors and Seniors both had excellent wins over Clare and Cork on Sunday last in Fitzgerald Stadium. The Minors won on a scoreline of Kerry 2.21 v Clare 0.03, with Barry O’Mahony St Senans playing his part in the domination of the midfield battle. Also from the district to contribute to the fifth Munster Title in a row for Kerry were Adam Donoghue Castleisland Desmonds starting in the number 10 jersey and Eddie Browne from Listowel Emmets amng the subs. Congratulations to all involved.
The Seniors had a well balanced performance against a under par Cork side on a scoreline of Kerry 1.23 v Cork 0.15. Although at times the Kingdom took their foot of the pedal to allow Cork in on goal on three occasions but the rebel men couldn’t find the back of the net. Cork did come within three points of Kerry just before the halftime whistle. But after the break Kerry came out of the traps to again raise the flag on four occasions without reply. Anthony Maher (Duagh) played at his best in the midfield position. But the highlight for the North Kerry contingent was the point scored by Shane Enright (Tarbert) from corner back a minute before the full time whistle, which I am sure he dedicated to his loyal supporter, mum Stella for her birthday on Sunday last. Congratulations to players and management. Kerry will be out in the Quarter Finals on Saturday 29th July against the Round 4a winner.
