Presentation Secondary School Listowel is proud to announce that student Grace Foley has qualified for the SciFest National Final, which will take place at the Marino Institute of Education, Dublin, on Friday, 21st November.
Grace’s innovative and thought-provoking project, titled “Yummy, Yummy Uh Oh – Microplastics in My Tummy”, explores the presence and potential impact of microplastics in the human food chain. Her work, which highlights a growing environmental and health concern, first gained recognition in the Biological and Ecological category at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSE) last January.
In April, Grace’s outstanding research and scientific curiosity were further recognised when she was awarded the coveted Best Project runner up Award at SciFest in TUS Limerick. This success has now earned her a place among the top young scientists in Ireland as she competes at the SciFest National Final.
Grace is currently applying the final touches to her research and is set to represent both Presentation Secondary School, Listowel, and County Kerry on the national stage. Her dedication, creativity, and commitment to scientific exploration continue to inspire her peers and teachers alike.
The school community extends its full support to Grace as she prepares to showcase her project at the national final in Dublin, wishing her every success as she continues her journey in science.
