Teach Siamsa Finuge Celebrates Heritage Week with Harp Try-Out and Registration Night

340

Teach Siamsa Finuge will celebrate National Heritage Week with a special Harp Try-Out Session on this Sunday, August 24th, from 11.00am to 1pm.

This event follows the success of the Cornelius Lyons Harp Summer School, held earlier this summer, which brought new attention to the legacy of the North Kerry harper. Thanks to the support of Music Generation Limerick, harps will be available on the day for members of the public to try out, guided by harpist Niamh O’Brien (pictured).

As part of this initiative, Teach Siamsa will also provide information on opportunities for harp loans and harp classes, helping to make the instrument more accessible to learners of all ages.

“We want to make the harp accessible to everyone,” said harpist Niamh O’Brien. “You don’t need any experience to take part — this is about giving people the chance to try the instrument and, hopefully, fall in love with it.”

Teach Siamsa Finuge, the original training home of Siamsa Tíre, is once again becoming a lively hub for the traditional arts, inviting the community to share in creativity, heritage, and learning.

They will hold a Registration Night on Tuesday, August 26th, from 6.30 PM to 8.00 PM. This evening will offer the community a chance to sign up for a wide range of classes, including music, dance, drama, creative writing, and the Irish language.
