The Ciorcal Cainte, held in St. John’s Theatre & Arts Centre, Listowel, on Friday, April 4 was very well attended with more than 20 enthusiastic Gaeilgeoirí gathered to pay tribute to the late Mick O’Dwyer.
The Laochra Gael programme from TG4 was shown much to the delight of a very knowledgeable audience. It was followed by reminiscences of Micko’s and Kerry’s Golden Years.
The gathering concluded with a reading of Cathal Ó Searcaigh’s long poem ‘Gafa i nGaza’ by Gabriel Fitzmaurice expressing horror at the treatment of the Palestinians. The poem and English translation were sympathetically received and supported. A prayer was recited for the people of Gaza to conclude the event.
The next Ciorcal Comhrá will be held on Friday May 2nd at 11am at St. John’s Theatre & Arts Centre. “Tá fáilte roimh gach duine don ócáid seo atá saor in aisce,” a deir Áine Ní Chuaig ó Amharclann & Ionad Ealaíona Naomh Eoin.
