Teach Siamsa Finuge invites the public to a special celebration of Imbolc and St Brigid on Monday, February 2nd at 12 noon, at St Michael’s Well.
This gathering marks Imbolc, the traditional festival of renewal and the beginning of spring, alongside the Feast of St Brigid. The event will include the Blessing of St Brigid’s Crosses and the Hanging of Clotties, offering participants an opportunity to place personal intentions for healing, protection, and hope at the well.
Contributions exploring the meaning of Imbolc and the symbolism of St Brigid’s Crosses will be offered by Ciaran Walsh and Anna Mai Kelliher. Blessings and reflective readings will be led by Fr. Anthony O’Sullivan, Anna Hickson and Bridie Mulvihill. Music on the day will be provided by Denis Crowley, Susan Motherway, Suzanne Quill, and Abbie Heffernan, creating a reflective and welcoming atmosphere rooted in local tradition.
Those attending are encouraged to bring a St Brigid’s Cross to be blessed, as well as a clottie or small token on which to place an intention. All are welcome.
