Two Moyvane sisters, Niamh and Caoimhe O’Sullivan, are celebrating a remarkable milestone together this year, as they both completed their Leaving Certificate in Colaiste na Riochta with exceptional results. Known for their diligence and studious nature, the sisters have taken inspiring next steps in their educational journeys.
Caoimhe has begun her third-level studies at Munster Technological University (MTU) Kerry with a Higher Cert in Science in Pharmacy Technician, where she is already settling into college life with enthusiasm and ambition. Her choice of MTU reflects her passion for her chosen field and her readiness to embrace the challenges and opportunities of higher education. Caoimhe said “I wanted to work in an area related to health where I would be able to help people”.
Niamh, meanwhile, has made the thoughtful decision to defer her place in the Bed Gaeilge Studies, at University College Cork (UCC) for a year. Instead, she is pursuing a Pre-Teaching PLC course at Kerry College. This pathway will allow her to gain valuable experience and insight into the teaching profession before embarking on her university studies. Niamh said “My experience with the teachers in Colaiste na Riochta inspired me to pursue a career in teaching”.
The O’Sullivan sisters’ achievements are a testament to their hard work, focus, and determination throughout their school years. Teachers and family alike have praised their academic dedication and positive attitude, which have clearly paid off. Principal Iseult Glynn said: “Niamh and Caoimhe were excellent students here in Colaiste Na Riochta and we are very proud of them”.
As they begin new chapters in their lives, Niamh and Caoimhe serve as wonderful role models for other students in Colaiste Na Riochta and beyond. Their story is one of perseverance, thoughtful planning, and the rewards of staying true to one’s goals.
