SPREADING CHRISTMAS MAGIC ACROSS THE KINGDOM

Tralee’s beloved giant elf, Ernie, first introduced during Christmas in Tralee 2022, has officially embarked on his festive journey across the Kingdom — bringing smiles, wonder, and Christmas spirit to children throughout Kerry.
This week, Ernie kicked off his Christmas tour with surprise school visits to Scoil Íde, Curranes National School (Castleisland), and to the delighted pupils of Coolard National School, Listowel (pictured). The special visit in Coolard was attended by Cllr. Michael Foley, Cathaoirleach / Mayor of Kerry County Council, who joined students in welcoming Ernie back to Kerry. Delivered in partnership with An Garda Síochána, the tour ensures Ernie reaches each school safely as he spreads joy across communities in North and West Kerry. Over the coming days, Ernie will continue appearing unannounced at schools across the Kingdom, adding excitement and anticipation as Christmas approaches.

A huge thank you is extended to our colleagues Listowel Business & Community Alliance and Castleisland Chamber Alliance, who have joined forces with us to bring Christmas magic to boys and girls across the Kingdom. Having set off from the North Pole earlier this month, Ernie’s mission is simple: to sprinkle festive cheer and remind families that some of the biggest Christmas celebrations in Kerry are just around the corner — including the Parades and the enchanting Island of Geese Festive Markets.

“We’re thrilled to see Ernie back on tour,” said Colette O’Connor, CEO Tralee Chamber. “His visits bring huge joy to children and help build excitement for all the wonderful events taking place in Tralee this December.”
