Moving On is an exciting, new employment programme for women. The programme offers women training, support, work placements & links with employers.

The Moving On programme is co-ordinated by Lisa Fingleton. Dolores Gallagher is the Employment Liaison Officer. They are based in the NEWKD offices in Listowel but will be working with women all over North, East and West Kerry over the next 3 years. Lisa has years of experience working in the creative sector and also as a trainer on the previous Equality for Women programme with Dee Keogh. According to Lisa “I believe this is a great opportunity for women. So many women I have met over the last few years have huge skills and experience but some are lacking confidence after years at home. Women are telling us how they are sending out so many CVs and getting no response. This programme can support women to set new goals and achieve their dreams. It’s never too late”.

Dolores Gallagher previously worked with Aware, the mental health organization. Dolores has extensive experience as a trainer and administrator in the private sector. Dolores says “I am really excited about working on this programme and want to support as many women as possible to realise their potential. I returned to college in my late thirties and know how difficult it can be to make changes, especially when you have other responsibilities in life. It was extremely challenging at times but I have never looked back.”

The Moving On programme will have free introductory information sessions (with tea and scones) next week:
Listowel, FRC, Ballygologue, 10.00-12.00, Thurs 21st Sept
Tralee, NEWKD, Aras an Phobail, 10-12, Tues 19th Sept
Castleisland, NEWKD, Crageens, 10-12, Wed 20th Sept

This will be followed by an intensive 6 week programme, one morning a week in each location plus additional work specific training. The Moving On programme is run in partnership with the Kerry Education and Training Board (KETB) and other community and employer organisations. This project is co-funded by the Irish Government and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.

“We have already had a great response and we are really looking forward to working with the women and employers” says Lisa. If you are a woman looking for work or an employer who would like to get involved in the programme, please contact.
