A packed programme of events will take place from Thursday July 19th to Saturday July 21st to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of John B. Keane, one of Listowel and Kerry’s great literary figures. The event is being organised by Seanchai – Kerry Writers’ Museum, Listowel as part of its ongoing programme of activities to honour and celebrate Kerry writers.

As part of the programme the Museum will host a special exhibition of photographs and memorabilia of John B. Keane held in its collection. The exhibition is currently being developed and Seanchai – Kerry Writers’ Museum is now seeking additional photographs from members of the public to be included. It is particularly looking for photos of a
personal nature, whether it is from a local sporting event or other occasions attended by John B. Keane. “If people would like to contribute their photographs to the exhibition, they can dropped them in to our reception and we will scan and return them safely to donors”,
said Cara Trant, manager of the Museum.

Other events taking place include Pub Theatre at John B. Keane’s Bar, a screening of the acclaimed ‘Rivers of Words’ documentary, a literary walk through Listowel, keynote address by theatre critic and Irish Times columnist Fintan O’Toole and a performance of ‘Big Maggie’ by Corofin Drama Society.

Details of all events taking place are available through Kerry Writers’ Museum’s website www.kerrywritersmuseum.com and tickets can be booked from the Museum at 068 22212.
