Listowel Credit Union sponsor Potting Benches for Kerry Parents & Friends “Green Thumbs Up” Social Enterprise, Listowel

Listowel Credit Union is delighted to provide sponsorship for the purchase of two free standing potting benches for Kerry Parents & Friends (KPFA) “Green Thumbs Up” Social Enterprise in Listowel.

The social enterprise was launched late in 2023 with KPFA service users who work in the garden group wishing to share their gardening skills and knowledge with the community. The group offer gardening workshops to the wider community while also planting, growing and selling a range of plants from the enterprise polytunnel at the Farmers Market Stall in Listowel every Friday.

Marketing Manager, Ashley Fitzgerald and ESG Committee Member, Katie O’Connell of Listowel Credit Union were welcomed by the Green Thumbs Up Group on Tuesday morning last to see the fantastic work being done by the enterprise.

Kathleen Horan Centre Manager KPFA and Lucy Trant Senior Instructor/ Horticulturist KPFA on behalf of the “Green Thumbs Up” Group said: “We are delighted with the addition of two potting benches for our service users. This social enterprise allows service users to gain meaningful employment which in turn brings about positive life skills and social inclusion opportunities. Having Listowel Credit Union come on board helps us advance the development of Green Thumbs Up and encourage more users to play a socially valued role in their own community.”

On the sponsorship, Ashley FitzGerald, Marketing Manager, Listowel Credit Union, said; “We are delighted to be able to come on board for this fantastic enterprise with Kerry Parents & Friends to provide sponsorship from our ESG Community Fund. We can see here today first -hand the difference the benches will make, and the fantastic work already being done by the hard-working Green Thumbs up team. The enterprise helps address the social issue of lack of meaningful employment for those with disabilities and we are delighted to help play a part in its success.”
